Which in your opinion is better for selling hand made products?

just had a look on both sites - Etsy has a 20 cents charge for 4 months (regardless whether product is bought), along with 3.5% charge (not including postage) once product sold.

Ebay however, requires me to open up a shop to stock products for over 10 days.

in your experience, does etsy get much traffic? do ebayers buy handmade stuff?

thanks

Lou

P.S. omg so sorry I've been away so long, lots to do - READY for commissions ~KreepingSpawn talk to me!!!!!

In my opinion, Ebay is bad for hand made things, I've put loads on and only ever had one sold!!

I think you should stick to Etsy... I don't think the fees are bad seeing as it's listed for four whole months!!

I have been having great luck with etsy; I went away from ebay after the fourth time of getting scammers that bid on my auctions :( You go to collect, and poof, they're gone. I don't even know what they were trying to accomplish, it's not like I would send the product without receiving money!

Yeah 20 cents per listing for 4 months is an awesome deal, and you are supposed to charge your buyers for postage, so that doesn't come out of your pocket. I signed up for Etsy earlier this year and have made 100+ sales *shrug*

awesome!

thankyou for the advice, I feel alot better about etsy now - got an account in 2007 and still haven't used it! been too nervous.

I thought they were good rates but I just wanted to hear it from an experienced user.

I had the same problem with Ebay a couple of years ago, and I had a look through their listings but they dont seem to have much handmade-wise.

thankyou for the advice :)

Yeah, but do you know what this means? NewDoctor will have to meet Capt. Jack, and we're gonna get a whole new round of omnisexuality by HornyJack! Methinks they should have made a HandClone for him, too XP
