Long time no see, long time no post

For the last couple of months on and off, I have been revamping my plushie patterns. This is a difficult practise, as it requires me pretending to be good at maths, and being able to imagine a three dimensional creature inside-out with flailing limbs. And usually I find, having made all the right calculations and measurements to the exact milimetre, I was better off just trusting the artistic instinct and just drawing it freehand #facepalm#

BUT the worst is out of the way, thanks to all my customers over the years I have progressed and have now a standardized pattern system, saving space and cardboard (doing my bit for the enviroment). This should make plushifying all your complex creations that little bit easier, as well as cheaper! (for the both of us!)

I can handle muzzles!, snouts!, Pot bellies!, Skinny bodies!, long limbs!, short limbs!, bird wings!, bat wings!, bug wings!, flippers!, serpents!, paws!, claws!, tentacles!, cat tails!, cat ears!, dog tails!, dog ears!, wolf tails!, wolf ears!, Bird tails!, big heads!, small heads!, long necks!, longer necks!, excetera excetera!

I also still have alot of plushies already made for sale; and I would would like to make some money for university, as I am still without a job and unlikely to get one before I leave. Please see my plushie gallery for an idea of whats on offer.

I will set up my etsy account soon, but in the mean time, if you're happy to do the transaction via notes on DA that would be a help, I accept paypal only, will be posting from the UK.

Wow, that must have been a hard work! Having a unified system helps a lot if you want to keep things simpler. When I make plushies (not so complex ones you do, mostly just simple 2D plushies like the felty gir was) I combine the two methods: I keep proportions and measures in mind but use them a bit freely. I don't think you should be afraid to trust that artistic instinct: that is what makes handmade art so special, unlike manufactured toys. :D

You sure can handle a wide spectrum of body elements now
Good luck on the business, both inside and outside etsy. Your work is totally professional, I'm sure the business will work excellently!

'keep proportions and measures in mind but use them a bit freely' I will keep that in mind, thankyou Fel, sometimes it doesn't help when I over measure - you're right, I just need to trust my eyes.

OOoooooh so you're gunna do more plush work? :) what did you have in mind?
:iconfelrokker:
Yeah, you do that! Your work is professional enough on its own, it will look excellently even if you don't keep yourself to strict rules (unlike my somewhat adorably half-assed little plushies) :D :D

Yes I was going to :D Here is something i've sewn recently: [link] great success: it already got sold! :w00t:

So I thought I would make another one, which I think will be a panda. If you are interested, I can show it when it's ready :aww:
:iconlateral-thinker:
OMG WOW, that's great Fel!

I like the material on the body, how did you do the twinkle in the eyes?

I would appreciate it if you showed me your next project - why not post them on here? the sewings tidy, and they're well put together- simple but effective.
:iconfelrokker:
Awwww thanks  It's some kind of very soft and somewhat thick fabric on the body. I wanted the owl to have a touch of red, and the yellow pattern looked a bit like feathers to me :D

I sew a tiny dot on the eyes with white thread, that's how I get the twinkle; I also fix the position of the eyes this way so it's multifunctional :D :D

I actually could... I originally wanted this account for my drawings only and nothing else, no handcraft or photos, but then people liked the gir plushie so I was thinking about uploading some handcrafted things every once in a while :D

The panda could be a good start, I finished it yesterday and it turned out pretty good after all. It's actually the same panda I have told you about :iconpanda-fanclub: :D :D

Awwww thanks very much. :aww: They are more simple than effective imho :P but... not bad for a start. I might move on to more complicated 3D designs if I get better at this.
:iconlateral-thinker:
well, could you not set up a plushie account? many people do it - it also prevents your 2d work getting over shadowed, but at the same time have your plushwork foully appreciated.
:iconfelrokker:
Maybe I should :D Excellent idea, but I don't have so many of them. Not yet at least. I'll see.

Yeah, but do you know what this means? NewDoctor will have to meet Capt. Jack, and we're gonna get a whole new round of omnisexuality by HornyJack! Methinks they should have made a HandClone for him, too XP
